Infant sleep
Do you find yourself staring at your new baby sleeping and wondering "how much sleep does my baby need?"
Our UK sleep specialist Gemma Coe is a mum of two herself and is a certified baby and child sleep consultant. She helps families all over the world develop healthy sleep habits. Today, Gemma takes us through some advice around how much sleep your baby needs depending on their age.
Until your child reaches three years of age, in a 24 hour period, they should be spending more time asleep than awake!
Remember, the totals and hours quoted throughout this blog are just guides. They help make sure your baby is getting enough sleep for normal development.
Your baby may fall asleep outside these windows and may need more or less sleep than quoted. Babies' sleep needs are completely individual and are affected by development, environment and growth. Just like every other aspect of caring for our babies, we learn their needs alongside them.

Soon it will be time to get up an hour earlier. The start of daylight saving time makes us all look forward to spring and the start of summer.
The time change also means a change in your sleep rhythm and your baby's sleep routine. This can be a challenge. An hour less sleep is not just a one-off problem. While you may feel sleepy for a few days, the time change can cause your child to have trouble sleeping. That's why it's important to consciously adjust your baby's sleep rhythm to prepare your baby's sleep routine for the change.
What is circadian rhythm?
The so-called circadian rhythm or sleep-wake rhythm is responsible for this. It promotes regular waking up and that we get tired and go to sleep at a certain time. This is why it's difficult for your baby's sleep rhythm if you put them to sleep an hour earlier when daylight saving time starts. Your routine will tell them it's time for a nap, but their body will tell them to stay awake.
This can lead to whining and crying from your child

If you’re a mother, chances are you understand the changes we go through during pregnancy, after birth, and in the years following. It’s no surprise when you learn a fellow mum is unable to multitask or forgets the simplest things or is constantly consumed by their children’s well-being.
Want to know something amazing? It’s not just you. You’re not going crazy. Science proves it! Journalist and mother, Chelsea Conaboy, went looking for answers about the changes beyond a woman’s body during pregnancy. She wanted answers about the changes in the brain and that led her to her now viral article in Boston Globe, “Motherhood brings the most dramatic brain changes of a woman’s life.”
The Most Significant Biological Event in a Mother’s Life
In a 2006 study from Scientific American, researchers discovered that almost all female mammals undergo “fundamental changes” during pregnancy and after birth and that pregnancy and lactation hormones may alter the brain, “increasing the size of the neurons

There is nothing better for mum and baby than breast/chest feeding. A well-functioning breast/chest feeding relationship is something wonderful. But what few people talk about is: inflamed nipples, milk retention and mastitis which can also cause a lot of pain for new mums. If left untreated, or treated too late, mastitis can even lead to abscesses.
We don't want to scare you, we just want you to be aware and get to know your body better. This way you can prevent unpleasant complications of breast/chest feeding or recognise and treat them early on.
What is mastitis and how does it develop?
Mastitis usually occurs in the first three months of breast/chest feeding. It is an inflammation of the mammary gland. It usually affects only one breast/chest and can be caused by obstruction of the milk flow (non-infectious) or by infection. Mild, non-infectious mastitis is sometimes also classified as milk stasis.
In 95 per cent of infectious cases, the pathogen Staphylococcus aureus is responsible.

As a child, do you remember your aunts and grandmothers lovingly pinching your cheeks and saying "wow, you are gowning up so fast." every time you saw them? At the time you may have thought it was funny or sometimes rather annoying. Have you considered the number of times others have said the same to your child?
We may catch ourselves thinking the same thing or even hear the words coming out of our mouths when we haven't seen our friends' children for a while.
During the first years of life, humans develop faster than at any other time of their lives. In the first four years, half of our entire evolution takes place.
Every childs' development is individual
Child development is parallel and grows in the same order. However, every child is unique when it comes to what age they go through each developmental milestone. Every child develops at their own pace. For example motor development. One child can walk at 12 months, whilst another at one and a half years old. The same applies to the first

An international study reveals that only one in three women is satisfied with their breasts/chest, leading many to consider cosmetic or reconstructive surgery for enlargement, reduction, lifting, or augmentation. A common concern among these women is the potential impact on their ability to breastfeed post-operation. We would like to take this opportunity to explain to you, to what extent breast/chest feeding is possible at all with breast/chest implants or after a reduction, what the milk production potential depends on and what you can to make the most of it.
Is it possible to Breast/chest feeding with breast/chest implants?
According to the NHS, it is possible for you to breast/chest feed with implants. However, it does depend on the size and placement of the implants and the type of surgery you've had. If the incisions are under the fold of the breast or through your armpit, you should not have any problems breast/chestfeeding.

Urgh. I've been there, almost every parent has been in the same boat. Night waking is tough to get used to. Pre-babies, I used to work night shifts. However, nothing prepares you for when your brand new baby arrives on the scene and the frequent night wakings start to rob you of enough sleep to function the next morning!
Sleep disruption and sleep deprivation is HARD.
There's a whole load of reasons why your baby may wake at night, some developmental, some habitual, some completely normal.
Our UK sleep specialist Gemma Coe is a mum of two herself and as a certified baby and child sleep consultant. She helps families all over the world develop healthy sleep habits. Today, Gemma takes a look at the top ten reasons your baby may be waking at night.
1. Sleep environment
This is like a corner piece in a jigsaw. It may seem tiny, but it's important. Light sleepers can be easily woken by a change to their surroundings. Whether that's light creeping into the room in the early hours, or the radiator

Whether big or small, round or pointy, firm or soft - did you know that only one in three women is satisfied with her breasts, according to an international team of researchers? However, we all naturally want our breasts/chest to stay healthy. And for that, it is important that we consciously dedicate ourselves to our breasts/chest. On February 4th, World Cancer Day, we're reminded of the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness. Ergobaby proudly supports Pink Ribbon Belgium, a nonprofit dedicated to combating breast cancer. Apart from the fact that your breasts are an important part of you and simply deserve to be loved, it is also the case that six out of 10 breast cancers are discovered by women themselves.
Take the test: How well do you know your breasts/chest?
Hey there, boobies - nice to meet you!
If you're not already one of those who pay plenty of attention to their boobs, it's high time you went on a date with them. By consciously looking in the mirror or palpating your breasts/chest
