Page 47 - Ergobaby
In 2016 in Madurai, India Ergobaby celebrated our 100th order with Penguin Apparels, our India vendor, which has been like a family to us. The day was spent celebrating with traditional dances, personal accounts from Penguin Apparels team members and community outreach events which included dedicating a new water treatment system to a orphanage as well as donating medical supplies and equipment to those in assisted living homes within the community.
In great India tradition, this “small” gathering included over 500 people, an elephant, cake cutting and lots of delicious food.
We were honored to celebrate this milestone with them as a representation of our partnership over the last 8 years. With a partner so dedicated to community outreach, we look forward to many more years of collaboration. We recently sat down with Yassin Deo, from our supply chain team, and he told us about this amazing trip.

He graduated from high school and discovered quickly that he had little interest in becoming a commercial graphic artist, and moved to New York City in 1978 to attend the School of Visual Arts and be immersed in the city’s vibrant alternative arts community. Part of which was developing on the streets, and by 1980 he was drawing his signature line drawings in New York’s subways. Creating as many as several hundred by 1985. Concepts such as birth, death, love and war, immediately recognizable visual language spoke to not just a street audience, but galleries and museums as well. He even collaborated with children, other artists and in the presence of people so he could engage in real time.
Word quickly spread of his whimsical, colorful, relatable art that was easy to understand. Accessibility was important to him, and while his art was beginning

Once she’s born, your baby first learns about scent, touch, sight, hearing, taste and trust —along with many other things—from being right there against you. She came from you. And now that she’s here, skin to skin, also known as Kangaroo Care, is a way to maintain that unique closeness you and baby shared when she was in your womb.
When naked baby is put right onto mum’s bare chest, skin to skin, she is usually happier. Remember in the womb, your baby didn’t have to regulate her temperature. So right there next to you helps her stay nice and cozy.
In my experience, babies who are allowed more time skin to skin have better weight gain than those who are not. They literally have access to mum’s breast milk whenever they want it. They also don’t have to use their calories to regulate their own temperatures — they use their energy to grow. This means a happier infant with a stable heart and breathing rate.
