Wow – did you know Ergobaby has been around for 20 years? That’s when Karin Frost, a single mum on Maui, Hawaii, designed her first ergonomic baby carrier and set new standards for baby carriers around the world. To celebrate our anniversary this year, we asked you to help design our limited-edition baby carrier to celebrate our 20th Anniversary and the millions of moments parents and babies have spent in our baby carriers.
It was incredibly exciting, we received so many great and creative design entries from all around the world! It was incredibly hard to decide which to turn into a carrier. But, we finally made a decision. So without further ado… tadaaaa…. we are proud to announce the winning design “Starry Galaxy” is now available in our online shop. YAY!
Our Ergobaby Omni carriers are among the most popular baby carriers around. They combine all the best of the experience and knowledge of Ergobaby’s 20 years of innovation. After all, we didn’t choose our popular 4-position carrier made of cosy cotton for our design competition for no reason. But you’re probably already bursting with excitement, so we’d like to tell you more about the new design, which was created by an Ergobaby customer and mum of two.
The beautiful design Starry Galaxy is a celestial blue with drawings of suns, moons and stars was created by Evangeline from Singapore. The 23-year-old was inspired by a poem by E. E. Cummings: “you are my sun, my moon and all my stars”. Why she loves the quote so much? “I think all parents would agree that our children mean the world to us and bring so much light into our lives.” However, the mother of two never thought she would win with her drawing. “I was really shocked,” she says, “To be able to be a part of a company that has such a meaningful mission and not only helps parents with ergonomic products in their everyday lives with children, but also fosters the bond between mum, dad and baby is a great honour.”
